DLS 6000/1

Introduced in 1980, the Library DLS6000/1 was a new generation of equipment for electronically storing television pictures. A standard Winchester type computer disc was used as memory, rather than the then conventional method of 35mm slides. When multiple disc drives are used ,thousands of pictures can be stored , extending to an infinite number when using removable media cartridges.

The Library met the demand of broadcasters who required a reliable replacement for slide scanners. The DLS6000/1 provided this alternative with additional facilities including rapid, random access to the entire content of the library, special effects, a powerful and flexible operational control systems as well as the ability to record pictures from any video source.

The disc drives used are either 160, 330, RSD or the newer high capacity Seagate Sabre disc drives which record 735Mb.
To configure the system for different disc drive configurations the switch settings on the O/P Locking Card can be set.Always note your existing switch postions before attempting any alterations and TURN OFF the machine before removing the card..
